Therapeutic Essential Oils Work with your Body's Own Intelligence
Submitted by Barbara on Sun, 02/06/2011 - 15:14.
We get a lot of questions from people who are new to essential oils. They go like this: What oil can I use to replace XYZ pharmaceutical? The answer is, that's not the way therapeutic essential oils work. Yes, sometimes they work as fast or even faster than synthetic drugs, but they work in a very different way. Synthetic drugs are made to override the body's own responses. Think of someone hijacking your car and driving around with you inside. Essential oils are made to work with your body's own responses. Think of yourself still at the wheel with a good navigator on board. Big difference. Let me give you an example. Let's contrast taking a synthetic sleeping pill versus taking a relaxing bath in a few drops of lavender oil blended with bergamot (yum!). In both cases you may be feeling pleasantly drowsy and ready to head off to bed when......the phone rings. There has been an accident involving a loved one. You need to get in your car and drive to the emergency room pronto. If you took the sleeping pill, you have a problem. You probably cannot drive safely because that synthetic drug may override even a strong adrenaline response. But if you just got out of the lavender bath, no problem. Your body's own wisdom and adrenaline take over immediately. Your body is designed as a very intelligent entity. Essential oils will not insult your intelligence. Post new comment |
