Botanical name: Origanum vulgare This is the hot pizza-spice oregano. It is one of the most fiercely germicidal essential oils. Oregano is a useful diffusion or gentle inhalation during times of infectious illness. Combined with cinnamon and thyme, the blend is an herbal shotgun against a wide range of pathogens. This oil is too hot for any use on the skin. Suggested use is by diffusion or gentle inhalation. If you need to do some serious disinfection of a sickroom, add a few drops of oregano oil to hot washwater. Also very useful as an air spray. Mix the spray in a glass bottle. Oregano oil is strong enough to deteriorate plastic spray bottles.
